Beyoncé's latest album, Cowboy Carter, has arrived with the force of a cultural tornado, and of course, I have thoughts to share. Beyond the discourse and record-breaking hit single, there are many conversations to be had about the music, the artist, and the messages woven through the album's fabric.

While Beyoncé is an unparalleled talent, act ii provides plenty to praise and plenty to ponder.

From the opening track, 'American Requiem,' Cowboy Carter’s genre-bending sonic palette and Beyoncé's vocal mastery set a high bar. But the album's politics aren’t nearly as revolutionary as the sounds suggest.
