We'll put it on 30. Hopefully that's not the loud one. You know, the ADHD girls have to have a hard out. I have 30 minutes. I can be here. How am I today? Shout out to London. How much day? I'm really good. I'm on my period. I'll be honest with you. But, you know, hey.

It's better than the alternative. Better than the alternative. It's literally gorgeous outside. It's gorgeous outside. This is the time of year. These next six months, April, May, June, July, August, and we'll even add September in there. are the time when paying a million dollars a month in rent is 100% worth it. Living downtown, 100% worth it.

When the sun is shining, you can go out onto the balcony and feel the rain on your skin. And then, you know, go to the park or go to the museum or walk up or walk down or go to a restaurant. Like, this is the best time.

What's keeping me sane? Reading history.

Hey y’all,

Right now, I’m thinking about cycles and how the past keeps showing up in our present in new clothes and cheap wigs. I hopped on Instagram Live to talk about Trump’s authoritarian antics and the MAGA movement’s not-so-subtle revival of Confederate logic: surveillance, exclusion, and the gutting of public services. But I also explore the weight of knowing history, the danger of fetishizing facts without context, and why so many Black folks are quietly breathing a sigh of relief that Trump’s emphasis on immigration enforcement means the targeting isn’t aimed squarely at us. I don’t support it, but I understand.

Love,

Kim

💜Livestream Highlights 💜

Hey y’all—this one got away from me a little. I sat down to do a chill little livestream and ended up going on a full-blown rant about where we are in America right now. If you’ve been feeling the tension of this moment—between disbelief, anger, and fatigue—this episode is for you.

💜 Travel Warnings, ICE Raids, and Authoritarian Vibes
I talk about why I wouldn’t recommend anyone travel to the U.S. right now—yes, even with valid paperwork. The surveillance and arbitrary detentions are giving Gestapo.

💜 Free Speech Was a Trojan Horse
Turns out the folks crying about “free speech” were never really about it. Now they’re justifying imprisoning people for criticizing Trump on social media.

💜 Political Apathy Is Not an Option—Even If You’re Tired
I get why people are checking out, especially Black women. But even if you don’t care about politics, politics still cares about you.

💜 Why History Keeps Me Calm
I talk about how reading U.S. history—especially about the Reconstruction-era—helps me stay grounded. It’s all happened before: the backlash, the regression, the rewriting of rights.

💜 AOC, Pelosi, and the Politics of Visibility
We break down why Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s political rise stalled and how party dynamics (and Nancy Pelosi) helped block her ascent.

💜 What’s Actually Happening with Federal Worker Firings
Spoiler: it’s not just women and people of color being targeted—it’s also working-class men, veterans, and red state workers. The chaos is strategic.

💜 Why MAGA Is a Death Cult and Nothing More
They want to tear down science, education, and the economy—not because they believe in anything better, but because they’re too bitter to share what already works.

Discussion about this video

Yeah, I've heard MAGA people brag about how they don't like to read (which explains a lot). That's bananas. Which is why I'm trying to educate people via video/podcast. I actually think we really need smart influencers now more than ever. So, keep doing your thing Kimberly! :)

I feel like apathy isn't the right word for what I'm feeling, and what seems to be how others are feeling (from comments online). Do I care? Yes, absolutely. Will I at this point use a lot of effort? No, not at all. I think what a lot of black women are feeling is that this country routinely asks black women to fight for it just to be left behind and mistreated. So they chose the hard way after being warned, I want to see the majority of this country's people come up with a plan to save it and do the work for once.
