In regards to your point about this album being a direct response to the recording academy. In one of her songs , I think it was spaghetti or sweet honey buckin she says "AOTY I ain't win , I ain't stuntin about them " so 100% it could be construed that way. Also it's the rise and fall of a Midwest princess 😅 but your version the diary of a Midwest princess is funny .

This was good insight! It would be perplexing if someone at Beyoncé’s level of excellence didn’t want the highest award of her industry. It’s perfectly OK to admit that she wanted AOTY badly because if she truly didn’t care, she would have stopped submitting her albums for consideration.

I wonder if Mariah Carey stopped submitting her albums after she got played too many times. In my opinion, she’s one of the most underrated songwriters of a generation and should have won AOTY at least twice.

Slightly unrelated but I thought it was funny given the crazy Kendrick vs Drake beef, and Drake being "not like us" yet he's the only black artist I know who stopped submitting his work to the Grammy's because he saw how they were playing in their faces. Maybe it's because he's Canadian but he certainly doesn't hold the same reverence for the ceremony.
